Transylvania: a land steeped in superstition and supernatural forces of unseen magnitude and power. While one hellmouth has closed there are others still active, older, and far more powerful than anything other parts of the world have ever seen. After destroying the hellmouth in Sunnydale, Buffy and her friends receive word from a seer in the Devon coven foretelling of strange occurrences taking place in Romania. Strange omens begin to follow and the small army of slayers sent to investigate the problem never return. Seeing no alternative, Buffy gathers her friends and sisters in arms and relocate to a castle perched in the heights of the Carpathian mountains seeking to find out just what's happening in the traditional home of the undead, and what's happened to the missing slayers sent before them.
†  is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer role playing game set in Transylvania shortly after the end of the episode "Chosen". The game will act as an AU season eight/season five of Angel and welcomes all characters from both shows. Please note that this game will be set in the horror genre and involve scenes of death, violence, and sexual content and so all players should be over the age of 18 to join.
† Hunedoara, Transylvania & Hunyadi Castle †
† takes place in the city of Hunedoara, in Hunedoara County, Transylvania. Shortly after the decision to make the trip to Romania is made Buffy received a suspiciously warm invitation from one of her old nemeses, Dracula, to make use of one of the three castles in his ownership as a means of housing herself and the other slayers while they stay in his country as well as extend an offer of temporary truce and protection as he is equally disturbed by whatever force has been awoken capable of slaughtering such a large group of powerful young women. Suspicious, but concerned at the all too convincing note of concern in the notorious vampire's correspondence, Buffy decides to take him up on his offer but to keep a cautious eye. She sends word to Angel in L.A. to notify him that a possible new dark power is rising, before gathering her forces and leaving for Transylvania.
The castle where they will be housed is known as 'Hunedoara' or 'Corvin Castle', or more commonly by the locals as 'Hunyadi Castle' as it once belonged to the Hunyadi family whose head was a mentor to Dracula in life. It is a massive building perched high in the Carpathian peaks and looking very much like something out of the darkest of Grimm's fairy tales. It is an ideal place for the housing of slayers due to it's immense size and numerous large banquet and ballrooms which are easily converted into rooms for training or dormitories.
The surrounding area is host to forests, caves, lakes, and mountains and within the city itself there are such seemingly out of place areas of recreation as a bowling alley, zoo, as well as public indoor swimming pools and tennis courts. While there are some citizens who speak English, they are few and far between as most all of the people who live there speak Romanian - the national language, and many others are fluent in Hungarian as well.

Instead a formal set of rules this is a set of questions and answers that should provide you with all the basic guidelines for play. Please note that you do need to abide by them as you would the rules of any other roleplaying game. We strive to keep this community as informal and friendly as possible and above all our main goal is to have fun, so please in addition to the laid down guidelines, please be mature and respectful your fellow players as well as your mods and of course the golden rule always applies: always treat others here as you would like to be treated in return.
 
There's a line. Don't cross it. Not everyone's character is nice, not everyone's character is going to be your character's best friend, and given that this is a fandom game and we all have natural preferences and dislike for certain characters - BUT what's important to remember (and certainly no one really needs to be told this by now) is that the character you're dealing with is NOT the writer that's controlling them. Just because Spike and Angel can't stand the sight of each other does not mean that the writers who pick them up need to antagonize each other out of character. This is probably entirely redundant, but it's just serving as a simple reminder to keep your cool and if there's a problem that needs to be dealt with that can't be resolved on your own - please contact a moderator to mediate, but don't abuse this privilege. The mods are here to help, but that doesn't mean they're here to babysit.
Activity here is largely based on scene-writing. Yes, we are both AIM and thread friendly, however AIM-logs need to be edited and posted in the in-character community. Journal entries are welcomed and encouraged (and there's no magic journal system in work here, simply online journals or blogs are in work - the castle has internet) however if you're only participating via journal you'll be asked to step up and move the plot along or be removed. Character interaction is what moves the plot of a game like this along and so it's interactive scenes, not journal entries which will count towards activity. In order to keep up with the required activity limit we expect to see you actively participating in at LEAST one scene every two-weeks.
It's hard to have a BtVS community that isn't accepting of slash and crack pairings. However if this is the course you choose to take with your character, please keep things within reason. Not every character is going to be gay or bisexual and worst enemies are not going to fall desperately in love over night. Incest is absolutely not allowed. If we start getting too many gay characters in addition to the already predetermined by canon slash or femme pairings then there will be a cap placed on it.
Absolutely! Just keep it reasonable and come up with a good reason for bringing them back. We know from interviews it was originally Joss' intention to bring Tara back, and Anya may still make an appearance in the comics. In addition so many characters who had died have come back there's no reason not to allow for certain resurrections - after all this is a fandom about magic and monsters, right? If you want to apply for a character who's dead please drop a note in the drop box and talk to a mod about it first just so we can help you determine the best way to bring them back so as not to disrupt the flow of the game.
For the time being no, sorry. We're trying to start this off slow, so we're looking only for the scoobies and members of the Angel Investigations team. If you're not sure if someone counts then please feel free to leave us a note in the drop box and ask. If however we grow to the point where we need to open some more characters we'll first be looking for established new slayers (Vi, Rona, Amanda, etc.) and secondary characters such as Amy Madison or Ethan Rayne. Once we have a full cast and are lacking for originals we'll possibly start opening slots for original vampires, slayers, and demons. The one exception to this rule is for our original big bad - Elizabeth Bathory and if you're interested in picking her up please speak to a moderator first. Dracula is of course also open for play, but as with Elizabeth, mod approval is needed.
Character deaths should be at a minimum. If you just need to leave the community we're not going to kill you off, someone else may want your role! But deaths do happen and we are willing to hear you out if that's where you want to go - but please bare in mind that it needs to be discussed in depth with a moderator as with any other major storyline. Our game works in real time and all human pregnancies should last nine-months. Our vampires will not be sexually procreating unless they somehow Shanshu (not likely) or have special circumstances such as a spell and a prophecy and should that happen it will have to be after doing a lot of convincing to mods as to why it's necessary. Any other pregnancies, marriages, or other major storyline need to be discussed with moderators and all other writers before being put into play.
This game will have instances of graphic sex and violence so all members must be over the age of eighteen and all scenes and journal entries made friends only. Please utilize ratings and warnings before posting your scenes.
Please use tags when posting a scene the tag for each character should be simply the character's first and last name if they have one. This will make activity checks much easier for the moderators.
If there's a storyline you want to run that's not of the norm - please make a note of it in your application both so we can help you if need be and so we're aware ahead of time of anything that may be a problem.
If you're picking up a character who's previously been played you're going to be picking up their back story and storylines from their time in the community as well, so please check with the mods before doing so. It's not fair to other players or the community at large to have large parts of their storylines and character's development Jossed.
